Makini High School is a mixed day secondary school offering the Kenyan system of education.
This section focuses on cultivating the highest academic achievement, skilled application of other talents and a strong communal ethos.
We also believe in enhancing PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support) by embedding them in our policies, programmes and activities in and out of school. This further enables us monitor and nurture the social, emotional, behavioural and intellectual development of our students.
In addition to quality education, Makini offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities that expose the children to growth in their talents. These may include:
- Clubs: Performing Arts- Drama and Music; Journalism and Writing, President's Awards, First Aid and St. John’s among others.
- Sports, which include; rugby, swimming, football, basketball- just to name a few.
Makini Upper School comprises classes 6 to 8; children between the age of 11 and 14.
The pupils’ academic progress and development in this section is key, as this is their final stretch in primary education. The school curriculum incorporates CATs which help monitor and gauge the pupils' academic progress over a steady period of time.
When not working on achieving the highest possible academic achievement of the pupils, the school also works to instill discipline and good morals.
This section is geared towards promoting and maintaining high quality education that will empower each individual to cope with all the evolving aspects of life; while also not forgetting to nurture them outside of the classroom.
The children engage in sports and outdoor activities as well as clubs that may include: Drama and Music, Public Speaking, Writing and Photography, Wildlife and Environment et cetera.
Makini Middle School hosts Classes 3-5, with children generally aged between 8 and 10 years of age.
In addition to academic nurturing, this section puts emphasis on developing skills and competences that are key to today’s ever changing world. These may include: creativity, innovation, problem solving, nurturing talents and moulding a holistic 21st century citizenry.
Based on the above understanding, Makini Middle school endeavours to form a holistic child and as such exposes them to as many disciplines as practically possible. These entail co-curriculars such as sports and games, field trips and clubs.
The children also take part in national competitions such as the Kenya National Drama Festivals, Music Festivals both in which they have been among the top in their respective categories; progressing to the national levels.
